Andrew Wakefield was a former gastroenterologist doctor who also studied research about MMR vaccinations. Over the course of many years, he attempted to make many claims that vaccinations caused autism. His basis for these claims were that he was approached by different parents on multiple occasions, whose children showed signs of autism after receiving the MMR vaccination. His claims were based upon the ingredients composed in the Measles Mumps Rubella Vaccination. This included aluminum and mercury. He also claimed that the “triple jab” itself, meaning having three vaccinations all in one, was too dangerous for the human body.
A medical journal named The Lancet, officially published a series of articles in 1998 by Andrew Wakefield and all his claims that vaccines have a direct link to causing autism. Naturally, this caused a huge uproar of fear for parents in having their children receive vaccinations. The distribution of the MMR vaccination drastically decreased, and the number of measles, mumps, and rubella outbreaks increased. Children died from these preventable diseases, due to Andrew Wakefield’s claims.
All of this research was discredited and retracted from the medical journal. This was due to finding out that Andrew Wakefield had purposely written lies and found to have been paid off to do so. Further actual research was done on his claims that further discredited him and caused him to lose his medical license. His claims on the dangers of the ingredients were false. Aluminum is used in the vaccination to increase the body’s immune system. The amount of it used in the vaccination is so minimal that it’s even proven safe for nursing mothers. Mercury has had zero research to prove that it causes any type of brain damage in human beings. As for the “triple jab”, it causes no risk of extra infection. Human beings and our immune systems face thousands of viruses and germs on a regular basis and therefore have the capability of handling the “triple jab”
Even though this fake “research” has been retracted and the doctor behind it lost his science, many people still believe that vaccinations cause autism. The fact of the matter is that once something is put out into the open, even if it’s discredited, the idea has already been planted in people’s minds. Because of this, people take this information and run with it. Along with this, Andrew Wakefield moved to the United States and is still creating documentaries and spreading his false research.
Children should not be dying from preventable diseases that we have vaccinations for. These diseases could cease to exist with accurate education to the public. With all the credited and proven research out there confirming that vaccinations have absolutely NO link to autism, we need to spread that word louder. People who read the fake research by Andrew Wakefield, also need to learn about him being discredited in all regards. People who are only reading and viewing his current claims, need to learn the truth about who is and what he did. There are two sides to every story, let’s tell everyone the correct one.
